No, not slow release @StrawberryRipple . What @Ment said is right, this substance prevents or slows the nic being metabolised so it floats around in your system longer. It’s not slow release, more like slow breakdown.

Interested by article, thanks @dahut . I wonder what the implications are for salt nic? As I understand it it doesn’t oxidise the way freebase does.
That would explain what folks say regarding salt slowing steeping!
 
If that theory is right about salt inhibiting steeping it would imply that salt would be less satisfying in the longer term as the metabolism would break it down more quickly than a well steeped standard nic liquid. If it’s right enough that steeping involves nic reacting with compounds in the flavour concentrated and becoming partially oxidised, that is.
 
Who knows what else it does? It might negatively affect your libido, or ability to do the backstroke.
