Oh, my appolgies.. I only just realised you were the thread starter!!

Yeah, by the time I started, 'vaping' was very much established. What were the concerns back then about 'vaping' as a term? It seems so 'logical' now, we are using a device that creates vapour.

it seems perverse to me. the sound of the word. it’s an irrational response. like the thing some people have about mouth noises, or other words like “plinth”. horrid.

To be honest it's not actually something I say in normal conversation.

I might say 'I'm going out for a vape" or whatever but I can't recall the last time I said the word 'vaping' or 'vaper' out loud.

i would be more likely to say “puff”.
