Resulting nic strength with nic shots

Hi All,

How do I know what the resulting nicotine strength would be when mixing shots of nicotine into an e-juice base.

For example, I have 100ml of 70/30 VG/PG Ohm Boy e-juice, they sent me 2 x 10ml 18mq 70VG nicotine shots with the e-juice. If I wanted a total of 3mg nicotine for the e-juice after adding the nicotine shots, how do I know how many of the nicotine shots to add/mix into the e-juice.

This is the 1st time I'll be mixing like this so I'm not exactly sure how to calculate this.

Any tips/thoughts appreciated.

hi
if you add both bottles to 100ml of zero nic it will make 120ml of 3mg

Hi,

Thanks all for the info, I'll whack 'em both in so.

@StrawberryRipple I purchased the Ohm Boy Cosmic Coffee 70VG 100ml e-juice, and it came with 2 x 18mg 10ml 70VG Clear Nic bottles.

3 is one sixth of 18 so the shot comprises one sixth of your finished juice, i.e. mix ratio is 5:1
And from that you can infer the general rule: mix ratio = shot strength divided by final strength minus 1.

Examples for 50ml juice + 18mg nicshot shortfills:
9mg final = 18/9 = 2 - 1 = 1:1 = 50ml nicshot per 50ml bottle of zero nic juice
6mg final = 18/6 = 3 - 1 = 2:1 = 25ml nic per 50ml juice
5mg final = 18/5 = 3.6 - 1 = 2.6:1 = 19.2ml nic
4mg final = 18/4 = 4.5 - 1 - 3.5:1 = 14.2ml nic
3mg final = 18/3 = 6 - 1 = 5:1 = 10ml nic (hence the standard 50ml +10ml shortfill bottle)
2mg final = 18/2 = 9 - 1 = 8:1 = 6.2ml nic
1.5mg final = 18/1.5 = 12 - 1 = 11:1 = 4.5ml nic
1mg final = 18/1 = 18 - 1 = 17:1 = 2.9ml nic

Clearly the stronger your nic, the weaker your flavour. Realistically, if you want more than 5mg you can't use shortfills and need to buy complete juice or go full-on DIY.

Further to the above, all the shortfills I've seen are aimed at a final of 3mg, so you get an 18 and mix it 5:1 to keep it simple... just tip the whole nicshot into the juice, no need to work anything out. But you can get 20mg shots so you don't have to dilute the flavour quite so much if you want a stronger final nic strength.
For example, if you want a final strength of 4mg and you use an 18mg shot, you'll use 14.2ml of nic solution in 50ml of juice as above, but if you use a 20mg shot, just modify the above formula...
4mg final = 20/4 = 5 - 1 = 4:1 = 12.5ml nic instead of 14.2 so it's a bit less diluted.
If you tip one whole 20mg nicshot into a 50ml shortfill, you'll get a final strength of 3.3mg.
