My grandme always told me " one drop of nocotine can kill a hourse" But I haven't seen a hourse killed with nicotine yet

I apologise in advance as I have not yet read this whole thread but the two links here are about one of the latest class of insecticides (neonicotinoids).
There have been experiments undertaken on insects and mammals for years using neonics to produce pesticides.

Just to add we have been producing insecticides for years derived from the chrysanthemum flower called cynthetic pyrethroids.
In short parts of the plant are extracted, modified, and placed in a medium for application so in comparison, Nicotine could be extremely lethal.

Yeah, Neonicotinoids are not the same thing as the nicotine you vape with. The point is Nicotine is nowhere near as toxic as was thought just 3 years ago, The LD50 has been pushed upwards from 30-60 mg to a far more sensible and accurate 500 mg.

And this article - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3880486/?tool=pmcentrez

There has been a lot of misinformation on this subject and posting links to articles about Pesticides is neither relevant nor helpful - in fact you even state you haven't bothered to read the whole thread. Perhaps you should have read the whole thread, or at the very least stuck with the topic - which is the toxicity of Nicotine, not the toxicity of Neonicotinoid pesticides...

No you're right.
I should have read the whole thread.
I read a few of the last comments and the title "How toxic is nicotine".
I believed my 2p was relevant to the title question.

...but they still sell cigars that are known to contain as many as 70 sticks. Go figure.

TPD is over the top. I've tried to pretend it isn't a thing as it grinds my gears so much.
