There's a few posts on Reddit and elsewhere of people with the same issue, basically the battery isn't making proper contact on both the positive and negative terminals. My guess is the Aegis max isn't very forgiving (maybe some QC issues there) and that with Molicels their length tolerance means they are sometimes a touch shorter and the combo of both is the problem. Most people had no problems but of the few that did one or 2 managed to get theirs to work if they tightened the battery as hard as possible. Fogstar have a supply contract with Molicel so they will almost certainly be legit batteries.
Since the P42a doesn't work the Samsung 40Ts are probably your best bet.
*Your P42a's would most likely work in other mods btw.
