I've been watching those videos on U Tube, you know the ones, you know you shouldn't,........ yes,... coil porn! What these people do is fanfuckingtastic. I see a lot of parallels with jewellery making, (Zophie Vapes used to be a jewellery designer) and some of the work qualifies as art in its own right. Meanwhile back on planet day to day I got to wondering just how much these fantastic coils could affect the vape. Got myself some various wires and after much faffing around managed to make a six strand braid with SS316l 28ga wire. Far from perfect and nothing compared to the masters for sure but doable. Four spaced wraps on a 4mm bit and into the Merlin (it takes big assed coils) and yes best yet. (I've tried Clapton's, parallel builds etc) Low OHMs though .11, but my Corsa Mini handles it in Temp control ok. So there you go, it seems that the Merlin is now reaching it's true potential. Nice warm dense vape.

I'm sorry to say but I've gone the other way these days...

I just don't think the hours fannying about with fishing swivels, hammers and drills is worth all the hassle.

I've gone to using boring old plain Flatwire from flatwireuk or Brochrome from stealthvape.

Maybe my tastebuds are knackered but for me the difference is negligible :11:

Nice looking coil though

cheers

Interesting, being relatively new to vaping I'm at the novice/curious stage, bit like a kid in a sweet shop really, though I'm beginning to notice some things;

1. The technology is almost reaching an exponential stage of development.

2. The equipment seems to be becoming more specialized to cater to the needs of different vaping styles.

3. Stuff and gear that was previously the preserve of the knowledgeable enthusiast is being made to be more user friendly.

4. Due to the internet the knowledge base (sites like this) are driving development forward faster than previous new industries.

5. Gear that's shite/plain dodgy doesn't stay on the market as long as it previously (before net) would as reviews, opinions and feedback are practically instant.

For instance your reply means now I'll try flat wire, whereas if vaping had come about before the net the decision to try Flatwire would have taken weeks or months to arrive at.

I agree m8

The thing I've noticed with most vapers including myself and I'm not sure why is we are always tinkering and searching for that utopian vape which we will never find. I've come close a few times and thought I'd found it but then the urge for a new tank, juice, wire or whatever kicks in about a week later and then off I go again.

Obviously I have my favorites but I'm still searching / tinkering for better :):11::)

I've come to the conclusion that's the way it's going to be and not to stress about it and look at it negatively as for me it's part of the attraction / addiction of vaping. Thousands of different setups, juices and styles to try. Vaping and I have moved on massively from that wide eyed person a year and a half ago that walked into my first B&M and bought my first ego style pen.

I've definately substituted one addiction (ciggies) for another but this addiction is different. I can go a day without vaping with out much of a hassle at all, but when I was a smoker I couldn't nip out to the corner shop for milk without my fags.

We are strange eggs :D

cheers

I feel you've nailed it. Vaping offers the one thing ciggies never did, variety, something different to look forward to, what will this flavor taste like with this coil in this tank? What will this mod do? How will this drip tip affect the vape? The possibility's as you say are endless, the rewards pretty quick too. When I look back at what I started on four months ago and compare it to my vape now; wow the difference! Viva U Tube! Viva Planet of the Vapes!

One final note, as a keen cyclist on my rides I always stopped off for a ciggie, out of habit really, I enjoyed it of course, but now when stopping off for a vape,

I savor the experience

cheers
