Blocking entire sections of the forum?

Is there a way to block or ignore entire sections of the forum so they don't appear in the 'New posts' section or the like?

I know the answer is most likely going to be "just don't read the posts" but just seeing if there is a way to remove them visually.

Those minus signs don't show in my usual dark theme setting but hover the mouse and they are there.

If you block the members that have a habit of starting the threads you don't want to see that will stop them coming up in the new posts section... not ideal but it cuts down on some of the crap.

Only works up to a point, it doesn't let you ignore staff posting rubbish about random stuff.
