ELSTREE, England, July 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Last week's emergency alert on the M6 -- one of the UK's most important arterial roads which involved a huge number of fire crews, armed police and ambulances -- was sparked by a passenger simply using his electronic cigarette on a coach trip to London. Details vary from report to report, but the huge media storm that erupted thereafter did focus on the use of e-cigarettes, as so many readers had previously been unaware such products even existed. There were front-page mentions on almost all the UK's newspapers, and live news broadcast teams who were out in force at the scene.

Speaking after the event, VAPESTICK's Chairman Michael Clapper told the BBC that whilst there remains insufficient knowledge about e-cigarettes among the wider general public, there remains a degree of risk that last Thursday's mayhem could be repeated. He went on to urge all VAPESTICK "vapers" to try and inform and educate the people around them on their travels, so that "vaping with an e-cigarette" will not ever be misconstrued as being anything other than an entirely harmless activity.

Although the police had confirmed that "no crime has been committed," Mr Clapper went on to tell the BBC Interviewer that "Forums such as these radio shows are exactly the kind of publicity now needed to help educate smokers, non-smokers and vapers alike. There is a responsibility on the shoulders of existing VAPESTICK users not to hide away their decision to vape, but to instead be vocal and proud about it, as the vapour released is entirely harmless to the people around them and does not contravene the UK smoking ban laws." He also encouraged anyone interested in electronic cigarettes to take a look at the VAPESTICK website, where there is a wealth of information about these products.

The success of VAPESTICK e-cigarettes has been put down to three key factors when compared to tobacco cigarettes. Firstly, they're far cheaper, saving smokers up to 75% on their habit a year. They're also healthier, without tar, carbon monoxide or thousands of other chemicals found in cigarettes, only the nicotine. Finally, and possibly most pertinently to last week's furore, they can legally be used almost everywhere in the UK, as they do not contravene the smoking ban laws.

In March this year, VAPESTICK was announced as the only centrally listed e-cigarette brand in all Tesco Pharmacies across the UK and have just launched a new product line, the "V2 Disposable," which has started to hit many other Tesco stores across the country too. VAPESTICK will also be launching new products and flavours through their retail distribution network, as well as at their own online store, in the coming weeks.

An ever-increasing number of smokers are turning to the healthier alternative and choosing VAPESTICK, given its wide accessibility through a broad distribution network of retail partners across the UK, including: Tesco, Harrods, Costco, Betterware, Argos, Makro and over 450 other independent retailers. With more use comes more awareness, and through increased awareness, incidents like that of last week can be easily avoided.
