Electronic Cigarettes Contain Higher Levels of Toxic Metal Nanopartices Than Tobacco

It appears that this study has been partly funded by this organisation: http://www.trdrp.org/

Given that their raison d'etre appears to be the 'quit or die' mantra, I wonder if any influence to present results that support that raison d'etre was applied as a prerequisite to funding?

After a little web trawling, I came across this: http://www.trdrp.org/fundingOpps/call.php

If you check under 'purpose' it's easy to see that this organisation are anti tobacco/anti nicotine zealots. It also appears (to my admittedly untrained eye) that they are targeting funding towards studies that show tobacco/nicotine in a negative light.

Draw your own conclusions.

Interesting. The source always needs to be considered.

For me, the main thing I'm concerned about is safety of vaping relative to smoking. Absolute safety is a secondary concern to me, although still interesting. After all, how much of what we all do every day is dangerous? Exhaust fumes are a prime example.

The thing that initially made me doubt this article was the half a sentence devoted to the relative merits of vaping compared to smoking. Then we see the source...

When I read research and studies the first thing I look for is who is funding them.
If it is Pharma or ANTZ you can guarantee they will ne anti. Probably Tobacco-funded studies would be the same unless they want to sell ecigs.
Vape company-funded studies seem to be more trustworthy but tend to concentrate on the brand that's funding them.

Truly independant studies are very hard to find but there are a few.

In order to be genuine all research has to be repeatable, obtaining identical results no matter who performs them. There is no room for interpretation and you can't make facts fit beliefs.

That is what happens when 'interested parties' gain control of scientific research.
