I haven't seen this posted about before, apologies if it has.

I know it's not much use in the current situation but UK Libel Law is currently being reformed so hopefully it will prevent the same situation happening in the future.

There has always been scope for 'Fair Comment' within UK law - what there hasn't been is a means to stop those with the funds to employ expensive lawyers using them to silence people through costs - witness how many times Private Eye almost went down the swanny - also the Major case where he lied - got a substantial compensation payment from them and when exposed - merely paid them back. This is the UK and we have to suspect that the law will always favour the rich and not be concerned with justice. But the changes are at least positive ones.
