us officials urge people to stop vaping

One bit in most of the reports, this quote copied from the guardian article:

More than 450 possible cases – all linked to vaping – among otherwise “healthy young people” are being investigated, US officials said on Friday.

In a couple of other reports, one of the fatalities was a man over 65 and another was over 55 with a range of preexisting lung conditions...

Otherwise healthy and young?

strange how its only happening in the states isnt it? dont think ive seen it from anywhere else though.

It's not really strange. America is the country that historically has tobacco companies (Phillip Morris et Al) sponsoring Congress to the point that they own a proportion of government. A mass rise in Vaping effects Phillip Morris and Co's revenue, so in turn effects the government itself.

America is also the country that heavily relies upon its citizens taking out medical insurance, mostly to great expensive to the individual. The majority of these insurance companies are underwritten by and/or partially government owned. Treatments and drugs cost money - they want you to get sick. It's good for business. Vaping, and it's ability to make smoking related diseases subside in their frequency and people therfore cease to use the medical services quite so frequently is bad for business.

In both scenarios Vaping impacts americas dollars on a government level. They don't care about the health benefits, the economy benefits or anything else. They only care about the dollars.

That's why a good proportion of the negative press comes from America in its origin, with only American sources as proof. Its government endorsed propaganda.

It's not strange. Its archaeic, but it's not strange.

I read something yesterday that said the compounds in one of the carts tested was essentially the same thing as grease. :19:

Whatever it was, it wasn't VG/PG and nicotine.

Just a bunch o idiots vaping either stuff that should not be vaped or counterfeit liquid containing nasty stuff.

Another one said they found (what was described as essentially) vitamin E skin cream...

Whatever next, ex crack heads admitting crack is bad for you.
The daily fail will be all over it. [emoji6]

It's deliberate obfuscation and agenda-driven, they're having a field day blaming vaping, blaming THCs, blaming anything that suits them whilst the facts have yet to be determined. It's working a treat as even here, vapers are saying that THC oil is to blame. It could be that the THC has been mixed with Vitamin E oil, it's too early to tell and everyone is speculating.

If and when the facts finally emerge the damage to vaping will already have been done. The only certainty is that none of the reported lung diseases were a result of vaping nicotine in PG/VG. @SirLugg 's spot on ... it's all about Murican greenbacks.
