Rubber band or no rubber band

I've never broken a tank before. I think replacement glass is pretty cheap on ebay and the band is ugly. It will help if the band is above or below the glass and it lands just right.
Chances of the band actually helping are pretty slim. If you break a lot of tanks, you can pick up a non-glass alternative like resin.
