Making coils

Holy sh*t, I think I’m gonna need to buy some wire and have a play. I don’t have an ohm meter, will this be ok just to test on the mod? Hopefully I won’t blow myself up.

As above.

As long as you’re not using a mech mod you’ll be fine.

If you are using a mech then you’ll definitely need an ohm meter to check the coil before firing it.

I did use an ohm reader but tbh it was more useful as something to keep the deck on!

SS 316L is great for temp control and heats up quickly on mech mods.

Kanthal is good for Power (Watts mode on regulated mod).

Either buy a roll of wire and either use it as is or twist it using a power drill (Twice the wire = half the resistance)

Or you can buy fancy wire (Parrallel clapton etc) ready made on a spool...

My twisted wire builds last.... errr.... well I get bored and change them after 6 months or so.... Just re-wick them as needed and clean them buy pulse fireing the mod and running the coil under a tap (without getting the mod wet of course !!)

6 months!! I only get a month out of the shop bought ones!

Making your own coils is as easy or hard as you want and well worth it money wise

Crazy wire company has cheap wire, but you do want to dry fire your coils as it's not always perfectly clean

Standard 24g/0.5mm wire alone makes nice coils for how easy it is, I usually do 7/8 wraps at 3mm

Do you have a drill that's either cordless or can go slow?

You can make the fancy fused Claptons easy if you do , simply put two pieces of wire in the chuck (ie 26g) with a bit stuck out the side , wrap a bit of thin wire to the leg you left (ie 36g), spin slowly holding slight tension on the wrap wire, speed up as you get the feel for it

You tube has some great tutorials, but my advice if you try the more advanced wires is use 34/36g wraps, it's both easier to work with and being thinner doesn't add as much ramp up time as say 32g
