Have you tried measuring it with a multimeter? I have no idea what you do with one, but it sounds like the kind of answer that makes people think you know what you're talking about

I don't own a multimeter. In any event as PBusardo once pointed out in one of his lengthier vids, with devices that use PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) you can't get readings anyway or that mean much.

i use a handheld oscilloscope for pwm measurements, they're getting cheaper all the time. i'm sure maplin have them.

I've emailed the vendor and he suspects it is a faulty unit so off it goes.

Kudos to Toby at ivapour-elixir. I explained the issues I was having and he is sending a replacement first thing tomorrow in the hope it will be here before the end of the weekend. He is also throwing in an adapter which helps with tanks for the inconvenience.
