Could not find this info on here so I thought I would share the info to help other apes chose the right batteries

You can buy cheap batteries as long as you check that they are not fake

How to know a fake 18650 battery

An average genuine 18650 batteries will weigh about 45g and no nothing less than 42g. A fake 18650 weighs 32g only and the genuine 18650 battery weight 45g. Some genuine 18650 battery can weigh more than 50g. Good brands will tell you the weight of the battery. Why fake 18650 battery weigh less?
That is because inside is a smaller battery with step up circuit which wrap in layers of paper and stuffed inside a 18650 battery size case then heat shrink in a tight plastic label sheet to make it look real. Genuine sellers will specify battery weight in their product description/sheet.

These links help you see how to know if the battery is fake or not

bestwayuk & vaporware-uk sell them on flea bay that meet the above criteria there are also some apes that recommend these eBay sellers (edit in a bit ! )

obviously fog star need a mention as have a great reputation I bought some for my son before I realised how easy it was to test so paid for them to be wrapped this is not necessary unless the battery plastic cover is damaged (They are quite funky looking through but I shall not be buying them for myself as they are not seen!)

Also it might be an idea to get a multi meter to test battery’s this link explains how to (also you’ll need one if making your own coils)

Cheapest places I have found to buy multi meter in the UK

Here’s some battery safety advice I came across as well quite useful if you don’t know

Regardless of which one you are those two words shouldn't be in a sentence together. If you're looking for cheap batteries you're valuing your life as cheap. Saving a couple of quid at the cost of risking your life is plain stupid

These don't fit in my Petri Lite Mech? So confused? Help!

Can I bend them if half and stuff them inside.

Should never be a case of "choosing a cheap battery". I have not watched either of the vids but the pic for the first vid shows a 5000mah battery, and I think they are all 18650's. in which case it is fake. Unless it has a 0.01amp limit. Yet it's not marked as fake because of the weight. I wouldn't recommend choosing batteries purely on weight, and I can't remember the weight of a battery ever being in the listing (maybe I just haven't been paying attention.)

When buying a batteries it should be a case of "choosing a suitable battery", as well as being able to have confidence in where you are buying it from.

I've not watched the video, simply because the preview pic contains batteries I would not touch other than to put in my bike lights and head torch. I have reported the post as possibly misleading and potentially dangerous information.
You said in your other post that you brought cells for your son and you want him to be safe but all I can see in the video pic is a raft of potential pipe bombs.

My concern is I can't weigh a battery I have not received to know if it's a fake before I order so I think I'll ignore everything IV seen here and just keep using my trusty supplier, he has great customer service super quick delivery and always genuine products, I don't think he has been mentioned before it's @Ben fogstar [emoji23]
