This may be of little help but just in case thought I would share.

I'm currently playing with stainless for TC.

Couldn't get the vape quite right, re-wicking with next to no wick up to normal wick (cotton) still didn't get what I was after.

This was all with TCR set from 88 to 94.

One of my other devices only allows the TCR for stainless to go down to 100.

Set the same on the cube and its much better.

This is with SS316L from CrazeyWire. Temp now set to 195 Deg C. Don't seem to be getting dry hits but when flavour drops I add more juice so haven't vaped it dry yet.

Perhaps others could post their thoughts on values for various devices, there is some data online but it may be there are variations in device accuracy?

There are also probably different values depending on wire source.

here is list that i found on internet (forgot where from ) & saved on pc for reference

TCR list of the most common and uncommon wires used to vape:

Ni200: 0.00620

Ti01: 0.00350

SS316L: 0.00092

SS316: 0.000915

SS317L: 0.00088

SS317: 0.000875

SS304: 0.00105

SS430: 0.00138 (shouldn't be dry burned very very hot as it becomes brittle at very high temperatures but a standard dry burn is no problem)

SS410: 0.00155

NiFe30: 0.00320

Tungsten: 0.00450

Platinum: 0.00392

Nichrome: 0.00040

Gold: 0.00340

Iron: 0.00500

Thanks smoggie, I found some of those also, and several sources seem to agree with those figures, or at least close to them. The X Cube does however so far seem to prefer a TCR of 100 for 316L. No idea why that should be.

I've had similar problems with SCV Cloud Steel SS316L, for which they give a TCR of 0.00092. I've had much better results with a TCR of 0.00100/0.00102 for this wire, without any noticeable tendency to dry hits. This setting seems to be consistent on my RX200 (V3.10 firmware), eVic VTC Mini (V3.03 firmware) & iStick Pico. All hail variable TCR!:flames:

Stealthvape NiFe30 is a different
I've not got it on my clipboard anymore as my phone died. It's listed on the site though

Stealthvape NiFe30 has a TCR of 0.00500 - radically different from the Resistherm product, which is listed at 0.00320. I've made very successful TC claptons with SV's NiFe30, wrapped in 32awg kanthal, which drops the TCR to about 0.00499.
