Kanthal wire thickness vs ohms

Hi, I have been getting my wire from the same people who most use and I have a little query

The wire should be .20 but using my calipers it comes up at .17

Now, I usually wrap 4 or 5 wraps and end up somewhere between 2 to 2.4 ohms.

Does this sound right? As I thought 4 wraps would be closer to 1 ohm

The seller has checked the wire on their calipers and they say it is .20

It's not just the thickness of the wire but also the length. Without going into a long winded description if you wrapped the coils tight and then unravelled it and measured it's length, it would be shorter than if you' wrapped them loosley. That coupled with how they've been attached to the head would make a difference in ohm reading. I mainly use .20 with 4 wraps on my Kayfun 3.1 and get a reading of around 1.8 ohm. Remember as well that the thicker your silica would also mean that more kanthal was being used and again would make a difference to the ohm reading.
