First RDA build.

just purchased my first RDA. (yay)

where would you recommend i start? what coils/ohms would you have done if it was your first?

For a nice performing easy starter build I'd go for a dual 24awg NI80 3mm ID 6 wraps.

Ran at 50-65w

Could do with knowing which RDA though... big difference between something like a Goon and something like an Armor 1.0 or M-Atty

I’d keep it simple and focus on learning to build on the deck.

Two simple round wire coils. Six wraps, 3mm diameter, 24 or 26 gauge wire. Should come out around .6 or .5

3mm id, skip kanthal and go for Ni80 or SS wire, it's lower resistance wire so you'll need a few wraps more than with kanthal, but faster ramp up, better flavour and nice heat
