Coil wraps spaced or close to each others

Spaced, always. I find the flavour better and the coils heat more evenly. I too wrap the coil tightly round a screwdriver but wrap maybe 2 or 3 extra wraps. Then pull the coil out along the screwdriver, fairly wide, this also seems to tighten the wraps, and push it back together. Perfectly spaced coils. I then take hold of one end with my pliers and pull against the wind to remove an excess wrap, then repeat at the opposite side to get it to the length I need. Just to tidy it up.
