Yeah so you need to work the cotton away from both sides and also down so you are centering it. Make sure the wells themselves done have any cotton in but there is a solid wall of cotton blocking it all the way up, no gaps.

I don't bottom fill and have zero leaking on refill now

No, mate. Fill the tank, not the atty. Hold it upside down, then screw the atty back on whilst it's upside down. You've proper flooded the fucker now. Hahaha.

I can't tell the height of your coil. That needs to be lower than the top of the screws and chimney side, not too low but lower than if you put a screwdriver across the top

i think its wicking just fine coz i can see the bubbles coming up from the side..
I will put in a new build and send some pics.

i removed the tank and filled it from the side. between the chamber and the ultem.

You appear to have a lot of wraps there for a 2.5mm Kanthal coil at 16W.
What does the resistance read?
This maybe where your problem is.

@lediscjockey have you checked out Bruce's wicking tutorial? I found that helped no end. Watched it before putting my first build in and the atty has worked flawlessly from the off.
