What's new

Cthulhu Tube: First Look

Seen this before. Looks like a rubber pad is missing from under the 510 plate on the board.
Bit of a shame and hopefully cthulhu will update and replace the board.
I think it's the same mosfet board design that fastech have been selling for a while.

Hopefully it's not a bit too late......that would be a real shame, the last thing we need is shorting atty's on a fked up semi mech.

I visited a local vendors Swindon shops today and was pleased with what I saw but then decided to check the other shop's that have cropped up in town and became very depressed. One or two good one's that are long established but the new one's where scary in the lack of knowledge and interest.

As for Todd's concerns over who buys one. That horse bolted with the wave of mech squonkers last year.
I saw some today in a small vape shop full of little cheap starter regulated kits and zero chance of trying before you buy.
Matter of time till we see the first blown up idiot here.

He has highlighted this mod as a concern though....so surely more alert awareness is better than ignoring all... with the horse has bolted approach.
If identifying issues and preventing mass buying, and safer changes are made....all the better to be notified....agreed some will slip through.

Oh definitely. If we see it. Shout about it and the cthulhu issue is a propper daft one. As you say fingers crossed thing's can be fixed quickly.
It was more a generic worry about the amount of what I class as specialist gear that's on sale with no instruction.
But I suppose we can't head down the HOT disclaimer on the McDonald's coffee rabbit hole.
Good work from Todd as ever.

Just for clarification, I wasn't raising any safety concerns with that video or doing drama for subs.

These things have been about for years but they are OK when people in sheds or geeks get them, they usually know what they are getting into. It was the fact there is no manual in the packaging highlighting the potential issue and that is wrong, very wrong.

I mean the thing is being sold as a SAFE mosfet mod and for your average Joe with no clue, that just didn't sit right with me.

I get that. And I agree with you. :)

Yeah agree and well spotted.
It looks great and will be everywhere so unless sorted it will be an issue.

That photo in the first post:

is showing the problem that Todd highlighted. Have you had any problems using it like that?

Cthulhu's guide for fixing it here:

I've not no, but I've not watched todd's video, I'll have to watch that and read all this before I comment I think. :)

Better safe n sure, well identified, changes need to be made, unbiased opinions always welcome.
