Ok guys/gals at the moment I'm just buying pre made juice but come May I don't really want a load of 10 ml bottles everywhere so seems diy is the way to go.

Now the Mrs has said the freezer is only for food WTF!

So do I A, get a small freezer and stick it in the garage or B not worry about a freezer and just leave it out there?
How long does nic last out of the freezer 12 months?
How long will say a 500ml bottle last making 6 mg using around 20/30 ml a week?
At the moment most of the juice I use is 70/30 vg/pg so would a vg based nic be better?
Will be using concentrates until I get more experience if that makes any difference.

Sorry for all the questions but i would rather ask now rather than wait until late I buy the wrong thing.

By my quick calculations, 500ml of 72mg nic base would last you 200 weeks at 30ml/6mg a week, so nearly 4 years! I'd get the mini freezer if I were you [emoji4]

You could use VG or PG nic base, presuming you use your concentrates at 20% - much higher and you'd be better off with VG base. The word is that PG nic base keeps longer though.

Hi @itscostingme, I saw you mention you may be looking into the DIY game in the midst of the Tile-Porn that was going on in another thread... its so easy to do and is so much more cost effective. Im currently on month 8 of my first 250ml of PG nic that i got from Darkstar that has never seen the inside of a freezer and has just been kept in a dark corner of a drawer unit and is still fine. PG nic definitely does last longer than VG Nic and given the low amount you are likely to be going through i would definitely suggest this option. I've just recently purchased another 500ml of PG Nic before the TPD regs come into play and my Other Half shares your view of the freezer being for food only... I think though I may have convinced her that if i get 5 x 100ml amber bottles, decant the Nic into these, seal each one up with plumbers tape and store each bottle in its own ziplock freezer bag at the bottom of the freezer then I will have mitigated the risk of any contamination/incidents enough to get away with it.... By decanting into smaller bottles you are reducing the amount each bottle is exposed to air - some people suggest only removing a bottle each time you want to do some mixing and putting it back into the freezer but the reality is i'll probably just wait till I've emptied a bottle and get another 100ml out which will stay in my mixing cupboard where I'm currently storing the nic.

Any other questions then just fire away - but it really is a doddle to mix - the hardest thing is finding some flavours/recipes/one shots that you like - otherwise it can become a whole new element of shinyitus but with lots of small bottles of concentrates!

Thanks for the help @cindy99 @Afreeb.

I have been out today a bought a mini freezer for the garage. Seems the best way to store it as with 2 young children with sticky hands it's the safest place for it.
Think I will go with pg nic.
4x500ml freezer pack seems the way to go at least I will have a few years stock and might even be able to make a couple of friends some juice.

Afreeb those bloody tiles are haunting me now lol

I agree with the others. I keep mine in my food freezer but they're all decanted in 100ml Amber glass bottles inside those lock n lock boxes.

4x 500ml split up into 100 ml bottles.

Should I be decanting all of it into smaller bottles?

That's what I do, so when I come to use one then I can just leave it out of the freezer without it going off.

I've split mine down into smaller bottles and just keep one in the fridge that I am using. That isn't going to be an option for you with kids (I haven't any ). You are going to have to put it back in your garage freezer but if you get pg nic then it isn't too bad to work with straight out of the freezer. Vg nic would be a pain though. You would need to get it out in advance and put it out of reach of the youngsters.
