Hi guys, My names Rick

Im currently putting together 3 circuits for a PWM mod that im wanting to build and hopefully sell. The design is pretty generic, pfet buffered pwm. but with a few small design changes from other boards. Quite a few of my mates vape, so every-time there devices break, they give them to me, so i can see where they failed. After them and me wasting money on mods made too complex to fix, i fort id try and make my own.
  • 3 Boards, 2 of them shown, the third im still testing, which is a simple low battery led indicator.
  • Socketed IC for easily swapping out the 555 IC if ever damaged, Standard ic 2s / 3s series , or if 4 cells are needed a more specialised 555 timer is required. However there is some protection utilising the pfet and a low voltage drop reverse protection diode.
  • Through hole components for strong connections and easier repair ability.
  • I was torn between keeping all high current wires away from the board, but this meant alot of wires,so iv settled on keeping those wires to one part of the board with as-little of that current going through the board.
  • Everything is LEAD FREE
  • Comes with a round quarter inch precision potentiometer. Simple installation.
  • The simple low battery indicator is easy to build into the case, as you only need to drill a 5mm hole for the led.
  • The boards will be covered in heat shrink, To stop short circuits.
  • Pfet Buffering also reduces wine.
Any ideas on improvements or thing's youd like to see, fire away, However id like too keep the price below £25. So nothing too complex.

I like the idea

I've used a couple of modder made pwm boards, and am awaiting another to try

One thing that can go great with them is size, so far I know of two boards (was 3) that will allow for a pwm Squonker in a good sized case, so if a smaller version could be done that would have a good use straight away

I like the idea of the low voltage indicator as a separate part aswell

Downside is the competitions prices
You can get an ipwm for 2-6s, with various sizes for £15 or less and that is packed with extras
You can also get and build a socketed pwm for around £17, minus the p-fet buffer
Not trying to be negative here, this is a project I've wanted to do for a long time and have put effort into design, use and competition

Thanks for your message Jock, Il take your comments in consideration, Got the PWM board's through the post, Still waiting on all the bits. Will probably remove the socket as it makes its alot slimmer. This will also reduce the price. I also for got the mention in that price you receive a Mosfet with 1 watt protection resistor. Also a smaller quarter inch version of the half inch button potentiometer. its not as pretty as the larger one but those would have cost me £100 for 100pcs. But i still wanted a precision pot, So picked these instead of the really cheapy blue ones. Hopefully in the future if i do sell any, i can use the money to buy the better looking larger pots.

Also all wires are soldered on and then is encased in heat shrink. So it more of a product, than a actual kit where you have to buy the parts. All that needs to be brought is a switch, A sled and a case. However you could be right about the price, im hoping to have a better idea after iv made afew.

kind regards,
Rick

Fully wired would make a difference actually as I only know of one wired up pwm and thats the pot-belly at around the same price

That seems to be the time most pwm boards get damaged is soldering to the board

I'd appreciate a "how to put it together video" Wiring diagrams confuse me if I don't have a visual script too. I fancy building a Mod, but need more confidence that I'm doing it right!
