Showcasing "Cassiel" twin battery squonk hybrid stabwood mod for tootingyoda

Last Cassiel pic (for now). Here she is in the wild, or in my back garden at least. Pleased that the cells last at least a full 7.5ml bottle too.

My weekend starts today, hope you all have a good one too. VC2 here I come :)

i must admit I fretted over this mod I tried it at 0.2 with stainless to stress test and see what the batteries did

(Don’t worry I have vented more batteries than I care to mention after you build a mod and test it you just don’t know, there are lots of tricks and knowledge I have gained to safe guard myself)

But Jesus it was a powerful beast why I’m still not sure the build is no different than other mods but series mods are strictly for the pro I wouldn’t even dream of doing this kind of mod for your average punter and have refused so many people over the last 12 months

Enjoy it @tootingyoda

By the way the name cassiel means “angel of Saturn” “speed of god” “god is my anger” he rides a mythical dragon

Names for mods always come first it’s part of the making process I do not sit down and go that’s nice......

0.2! Bloody hooligan :)

I wouldn't consider myself a pro, but I value my boyish good looks, so I'll be careful Stu :)

I was a little apprehensive about going series again, but I'm sure in one of Mooch's vids he said that it was more efficient than parallel anyway (or did I imagine it?). That a full 7.5ml done, and the charger is showing the cells at just over 3.8v on 30q's still. Not bad considering the power.

I thought you'd appreciate the oomph mate. What builds do you generally chuck in when in series? I don't get on with nichrome, but I've got SS and kanthal.

I use pretty much exclusively nichrome, occasionally a kanthal build. Just don't get on with stainless for some reason!
Normally I build between 0.3-0.4ohm on a series mech, para-series mechs are generally 0.2-0.3ohm. I would say 80% of the time I use atties 28.5mm diameter or bigger with bags of airflow, the only real specification I asked Stu for was that the mod had to be able to take 30mm atties without any over hang.
I tend to keep builds simple with 2 cell series mods, 24/36 claptons 3.5mm ID 8-10 wraps around the 0.35ohm resistance, or even 22awg plain old round wire.
The bigger the atty the crazier the build, 4mm ID is the norm.
Attached are pics of a few builds and some wire I currently use.

I must admit my good mate @the_atomic_fart is a mod killer when his mod came back to me for a service it was hanging on to the door of the workshop saying “I want to stay here” when he came and collected him

Now that's just plain hurtful! :D:D

I'll have you know I've only wrecked one set of batteries in that mod! ;)

He she/he (is that non binary?) is with the 28mm Sherman on top. Lookee, no overhang, well done Stu. Widens my scope :)
