Iroko Stand.

was asked if I could do a stand for six tanks at 25mm. So I thought I’d have a go.
The wood is Iroko and very old.
This piece was once used as a boat fender at Mudeford Quay in Christchurch where I live.
The fixings that hold this timber to the Quay rotted out and the board became free so floated onto our beaches lucky for me.

Anyway the timber has a really strong nice grain.



The basic shape. I’m limited because of the size and chamfer.



After lots of jiggery pockery.







Ready for its new home.

Very nice indeed. Iroko can be very hard on the tools as it often has silica pockets that trash edges for fun. Very resistant to rot though so great for outdoors. What finish are you going to put on it or will you leave as is?
