Making this one for the Raffle.
It is a work in progress as I’m waiting on a couple of bits to turn up.
Right first hade to choose the wood
Chose Iroko.
Lovely grain to it and is a hardwood that contains natural oils resistant to rot. Only thing is when your cutting it at speed it gets rather smoky.
Cut the basic shape and a couple of hours sanding looks like this.
Still got loads of sanding to do but it gives an idea.
Then to to pilla drill with a classic flappy bit.
And that’s as far as I got so far.
Left to do.
Make top and bottom. As the top is going to be curved it will be lots of fun getting it to sit right.
Make all copper internals.
Copper sheet should turn up later today I hope.
Make the fire button so it doesn’t snag in the curved top.
Put it all together.
Wax it. And relax.
